Firebrand Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) attacked former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) as a "Bush in heels" following Haley's official 2024 presidential bid announcement.
"Nikki Haley is just another George (or Jeb!) Bush. She is weak on the border, doesn’t want a wall, claimed 'Legal Immigrants are more patriotic than most Americans these days,' and she defended Obama when Pres. Trump criticized his terrible open-borders policy," Greene tweeted.

"If we wanted a 'Bush in heels,' Republicans would vote for Liz Cheney," Greene added, referring to her political foe.

An unabashed supporter of former President Donald Trump, Greene quickly endorsed him after he declared his 2024 bid last November. Her remarks came the same day Haley became the first heavyweight Republican to challenge Trump, announcing her 2024 bid in Charleston, South Carolina, Wednesday.
After her campaign launch, the Trump campaign greeted Haley with a similar line of attack, panning her track record and tying her to the likes of Hillary Clinton and former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI). The campaign also flagged many of Haley's past remarks that Greene mentioned.
Trump, who had appointed Haley as his U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, chastised Haley for throwing her hat into the ring despite previously declaring she wouldn't challenge him in 2024.
"I told Nikki to follow her heart, not her ambition or belief. Who knows, stranger things have happened. She’s polling at 1%, not a bad start," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Wednesday.
Greene also recounted how Haley opposed "refused to support a transgender bathroom bill to protect children." Back in 2016, while serving as governor of South Carolina, Haley rejected a bill mandating individuals use the bathrooms that correlated with the gender on their birth certificate. Haley said she didn't "believe it’s necessary."

Some have speculated that Greene is jockeying to become Trump's running mate in 2024 should he clinch the party nod. Former national security adviser John Bolton theorized Haley's presidential bid was really an attempt at locking down the vice presidency.
Haley is slated to hit the road and stump in Iowa and New Hampshire for a series of town hall-style events. She is currently trailing Trump, coming in fourth place in the latest RealClearPolitics polling aggregate.
