Last week, an instructional video went viral on social media after it was shown to daycare owners in North Carolina. In the award-winning video, the teacher (who identifies as " nonbinary ") introduces children as young as 4 to a "nonbinary" doll.

The teacher also uses "they/them" pronouns when referring to the doll and corrects two children accordingly when they refer to the masculine-looking doll as a "he." Another teacher approvingly mentions that the term "nonbinary" is "constantly in conversation" in the classroom.

What's most perverse about teaching "nonbinary" identities to children is that said teaching is being marketed as somehow beneficial. That means it can be justified by any means necessary. This includes lessons behind parents' backs if educators so choose. In reality, a nonbinary identity, particularly in adults, is often a way of signaling one’s political affiliation. It also reflects a propensity toward narcissism. It is a lifestyle, a way of broadcasting whether someone is part of the cultural in- or out-group.

Parents frequently ask me why educators are so obsessed with teaching gender ideology to children. In my view, doing so accomplishes several simultaneous goals with minimal effort. It creates confusion in a child’s mind and plants seeds of chaos, warping the way they will interpret the world going forward. It also separates the child from their family by creating a new and unfamiliar belief system guided by a bizarre and extreme leftist worldview. But encouraging an entire generation of children to be fixated on what may seem to be harmless identity questioning is the very goal. Ruminating about one’s gender identity, along with associated pronouns, labels, and changes one can make to their body to help them express these feelings, creates a cohort that believes the upside-down is benign and normal.

This is a trend that has been brewing in academia for decades. Namely, the destruction of social norms, stability, and truth. Universities have sown this way of thinking, and we are witnessing the social-justice fruits of their mission.

From a scientific perspective, of course, there are only two genders. In turn, parents shouldn’t feel intimidated or embarrassed to push back against woke educators' delusions, regardless of the messaging they receive. Parents need to be aware and equip their children with mental defenses against indoctrination.

Sadly, it will continue to be everywhere.
