After their viral spat at the State of the Union, Rep. George Santos (R-NY) doubled down on his attacks against Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT).

The two made headlines when a video emerged of their tense interaction just before the address. Romney later said that he told the embattled freshman representative, "You don't belong here."

Santos first fired back in a tweet, telling Romney that he would "NEVER be PRESIDENT."

Santos escalated his attacks Wednesday after being asked about the confrontation by reporters at the Capitol.

"It's not the first time in history that I've been told to shut up and go to the back of the room, especially from people who come from a privileged background," he told reporters in a video from ABC News.

"And it's not going to be the last, and I'm never going to shut up and go to the back of the room," he said.

"And I think it's reprehensible that the senator would say such a thing to me, in the demeaning way he said it," he continued.

"It wasn't very Mormon of him," Santos said.

"Given the fact that he's under ethics investigation, he should be sitting in the back row and being quiet instead of parading in front of the president."
