The FBI searched the University of Delaware twice in recent weeks in connection with the bureau's search for improperly handled documents by President Joe Biden.

Biden approved of and cooperated with the search, CNN reported. No classified documents are thought to have been recovered, but the investigators did recover some documents that are currently under review. The college is home to thousands of documents from Biden's time in the Senate that he recently donated to his alma mater.

BIDEN NOTEBOOKS FOUND IN FBI SEARCH MIGHT HAVE REFERENCED CLASSIFIED INFORMATION

The FBI looked through two sets of documents in the search. They were the documents recently donated and an archive of other documents from Biden's time in the Senate.

The latest search is part of an investigation into the president's reported mishandling of documents, which was ignited when a trove of classified documents was discovered at his Delaware home and his Washington, D.C.-based think tank.

The search of his alma mater indicates that the federal investigation into the matter is broader than publicly known, and it could entail more searches.

Former President Donald Trump is also under investigation for improperly storing classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate. His vice president, Mike Pence, who was discovered to have classified documents at his Indiana home, is also embroiled in the situation.
