The Biden administration dramatically accelerated the rate at which it forced federal immigration officials at the border to release illegal immigrants into the country and did not place them in court proceedings.
One year after the Washington Examiner reported that 47,000 illegal immigrants were released into the United States without being charged for the federal offense of unlawful entry or given a date to appear in immigration court to face justice, a new report from NBC News found that nearly 600,000 immigrants in total were discharged through this method in the last year.
The releases unfolded through the Biden administration's creation of a "parole" program that does not require anyone that U.S. Customs and Border Protection or U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released to be an asylum-seeker.
Letting immigrants out of custody this way also stripped immigrants of the ability to seek asylum through the normal court processes and thus fail to obtain documents to work in the U.S.
Many immigrants do not seek asylum at any time, from being apprehended at the border to the point in time that a federal judge may rule they have no case to stay.
However, by not placing immigrants in court proceedings, they lose the ability to seek legal protection from persecution at any point after being released from the border.

The new report shows the administration increased at an exponential rate its releasing of immigrants without court dates, resulting in no legal accountability for the federal offense of unlawful entry.
Republicans have also questioned the reliability of ICE's Alternatives to Detention program because its tracking monitors do not require immigrants to check in with the agency in person.
