As Twitchy reported, Speaker Kevin McCarthy turned over more than 40,000 hours of January 6 footage to Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, who’s certain to show us some things that weren’t included in the January 6 select committee’s highlight reel put together for prime time by a former ABC producer. It’s telling who’s objecting most loudly to this move: Adam Schiff, Adam Kinzinger, Keith Olbermann, and now January 6 committee member Rep. Jaime Raskin.
Raskin seems to be taking the same tack that has Olbermann calling for all of Fox News to be shut down as a threat to national security. Somewhere on those tapes is the blueprint the next round of insurrectionists will use to take over the Capitol Building.
That’s just it … so many are complaining that Carlson will edit down the videos and show only what he wants to show … which is exactly what the January 6 select committee did: They took tens of thousands of hours of footage and released only what they wanted to be released for their prime-time TV audience.
All the right people are melting down over Fox News having access to footage that should have been available this whole time. As far as the talking point — the tapes will reveal the secret to taking over the Capitol in 2024 — that’s just ridiculous. Maybe law enforcement could watch the tapes and get some clues on how to secure the building before the next “insurrection.”
