When campaigning for mayor of New York City, Eric Adams was clear that it would remain a sanctuary city under his leadership. So states like Texas began busing migrants to New York to take advantage of all the city had to offer. By October 2022, Adams had declared a state of emergency over the number of migrants that were arriving. By January, he was saying it was “unfair for cities to carry the weight of” illegal immigrants; never mind what border towns put up with every day. Adams even went to El Paso, Texas, where he said, “There is no more room in New York.” After he returned, he suggested his support for the idea of housing large numbers of migrants in “stadium-like settings” — camps, you could say.
Now the sanctuary city mayor who can’t handle busloads of illegal immigrants is floating the idea of using spare rooms in private residences.
The guy they elected mayor was out of ideas six months ago and is now grasping at anything. They’ll do anything but close the border.
