A couple of weeks ago, a tweeter claimed that LGBTQ families were fleeing Florida for their f**kig lives, and if you didn’t believe it, “ask a gay.” Plenty pointed out that Florida was experiencing record population growth while states like California and New York were bleeding citizens.

Ari Drennen, who does LGBTQ news and media criticism for Media Matters for America, backs up that claim, saying she has friends who’ve fled the state, leaving behind family, friends, homes, and jobs, all because of Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Seriously, what it is precisely that they are “fleeing” from? Sure, you can decide voluntarily to move to another state that better aligns with your values, but fleeing? Literally, fleeing?
