Nikki Haley just announced that she is not dropping out of the Republican presidential primary race in a speech she is giving live right now. Instead, she says she’s staying in the race because she’s trying to save America or something.

This comes after a new poll shows Haley losing to Trump by almost 30 points in her home state. I assumed that she would drop out before actually losing to Trump in South Carolina – there isn’t a single poll that shows her anywhere close to Trump in the state.

But her not dropping out makes me wonder if she’s considering an independent run for president after losing the primary. I sincerely hope that’s not the case but it just seems irrational to me that she’s moving on with this even though the polls are accurate and she’s going to lose her home state badly.

UPDATE: As I’m finishing this I hear Haley suggesting that she is not ‘Never Trump’ and won’t try to defeat him at all costs. She said while she has concerns about Trump, she has countless concerns about Biden. That’s good to know.
