Many actions of the previous administration and its acolytes were meant to exist for a short time and then self-destruct.

There are many things that are made for single use. I think about the thousands of gliders used by the Allies to ferry troops into Europe during the latter part of World War II. They landed—many crashed—and after the troops and equipment were unloaded, they had very little value. Most were damaged beyond repair, and even if one was in pristine condition, they had no engines of their own, so that getting them out for reuse was almost impossible. In more recent years, the tear-away jerseys worn by some college football teams also served single-use purposes with a new jersey ready at a moment’s notice.

Last week, the $464 million verdict against Donald Trump and the Trump Organization was thrown out on appeal. Virtually everyone commented at the time of the trial that the behavior of Judge Engoron was irregular and directed entirely against Trump and his defense. His use of witnesses and evidence was intended to get Donald Trump to be found guilty. He understood—like Comey, Fauci, Wray and others—that his job was to stop The Donald and the nationalist MAGA movement with the tools in his hands, which happened to be a court of law. It did not matter how many accepted practices he destroyed or how badly he damaged the legal system: Trump had to be stopped. Biden did the same by draining the Strategic Oil Reserve (SOR), while Powell lowered interest rates to help the Democrats get reelected. None of these fellows showed any concern for the long-term implications of their actions: we must stop Orange Man Bad and we’ll destroy every norm to do it! The SOR, for example, was emptied and may have to wait until prices are low enough to fill it back up again.

So the hefty verdict being thrown out was a godsend to Trump and the Republicans, but nobody on the Democratic side was much surprised. The goal of all anti-Trump litigation was simply to make candidate Trump as big a criminal as possible prior to the election so that his bad legal standing would turn off voters. Their strategy effectively failed as Americans realized in large numbers that all of the lawfare against the then former president was political. There were no criminal referrals for Hillary Clinton or any of the Bidens. People smelled a rat and voted in huge numbers for Donald Trump, thus giving him both the popular vote and the Electoral College. Hillary, trying to suck up to Donald before she is measured for an orange pantsuit, opined lately that yep, Trump won in 2024. How gracious of her.

The approach of the Democrats and all of their associates is to take and hold onto power. The Democrats since Obama have become norm breakers because their goal is to be in charge and not necessarily to make America safer, more prosperous or better—not in the least. No one had thrown representatives from the other side off of a committee until Nancy Pelosi did it to two Republicans who could have asked some serious questions on the J6 committee. The use of the Auto-Pen and the massive number of preemptive pardons given are reflective of the illegality of people like Tony Fauci and Adam Schiff in protecting the Democrats and not serving the American people. We live in an imperial age on the Democrat side where people like Hillary Clinton, James Comey, Tony Fauci, and many others could participate in illegal activities and feel that there was zero chance that they would be held accountable for it. Comey and many others acted badly because they assumed that Hilary would win and that they would be rewarded for helping her reach the White House. Maybe the situation of getting away with illegality is finally changing for the betterment of We the People?

The FBI’s raid on John Bolton’s home and office may either be a one-off or the start of an active legal investigation into the people who destroyed the legal framework of the United States. If Bolton is found guilty of any crimes, part of his punishment should involve having to shave off that mustache. He might be hiding a few illegal aliens in there. One thing about Bolton that has always bothered me is his title—besides his wanting to bomb every place in the world, he was UN ambassador for 16 months. Yet, 20 years later he is called “Ambassador Bolton.” The same is true for Hillary Clinton who is reflexively addressed as “Madame Secretary,” though she last held that title nearly a decade ago. The founding fathers were very sensitive to imperial systems. They did not want the new U.S. president to be anything like the British king. They came up with the title of “Mr. President” in place of your honor, your grace, your royal majesty, or whatever. The idea was that when a person served, he would have an appropriate title; when he retired, the title would be retired with him. Instead, we call everybody by his last posting, even if it was decades ago and for a few months tops. This is a problem as the U.S. does not recognize hereditary positions. If you are no longer governor, the person interviewing you should address you as “Mr.” and not as Governor Christie or the like, as he was and no longer is in that position. As they are elevated into their positions, public servants should equally and readily return to their original designation of regular citizens when their government service to the people ends.

Much of what the Democrats did to Donald Trump had no legs: the lawsuits, the innuendo, the threats against his associates. Their thinking was that they only needed the dirt to stay on him and MAGA until November of 2024. There was no thought of the long-term implications of lawfare against the former president or the attempts to deny him a place on state ballots. But what goes around comes around. The DOJ and FBI are actively looking at Obama and Biden officials for their effort to overthrow the U.S. government. Adam Schiff and Letitia James are both staring down mortgage fraud investigations. Donald Trump learned the hard way that his magnanimity towards Hillary Clinton in 2016 led to his impeachments and later arrest. He is now dealing with the people who invented the Russia collusion hoax. Trump, unlike the Democrats, is playing the long game. From tariffs to a new census and ending DEI, Donald Trump is building the foundation for decades of American success. The Democrats were focused on keeping Trump and MAGA out of the White House. Had he chosen not to run, they would not have thrown the lawsuits at him. The difference between legal efforts against Trump and those initiated by Trump’s people is the difference between a Soviet show trial and the pursuit of actual criminal activity.

The Democrats, on the other hand, are going full-bore on socialists and communists as the future face of the party. An unapologetic commie from a rich family is running to be the mayor of New York in order to destroy America’s largest city. The two stars of the party, AOC and Bernie Sanders, flew a private jet to political rallies where they could extol the wonders of socialism. Someone asked me what the difference was between socialism and communism. I remember a simple definition: 

In communism, in the end, they’ll probably kill you.

In socialism, in the end, you’ll probably kill yourself.

Long live America and her freedoms. There is no country like it; if you think otherwise, go live in Europe in tiny digs with no AC. You’ll be back in a jiffy. Donald Trump and the Republicans understand the uniqueness of the American experiment. May they succeed for many years to come.
