Hundreds of criminals have committed violent crimes against federal authorities and trashed the City of Los Angeles in the process. In a sane world, we would expect the people in charge—Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom—to condemn these criminals and put an end to the riots. Instead, they have supported the rioters and condemned President Trump for doing the job that they should be doing. This is an insane world that describes today’s Democratic Party.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass did nothing to stop criminal attacks on ICE personnel. A leaked report revealed she told the LAPD to stand down, leaving federal officers without critical backup as the situation spiraled out of control.
"As Mayor of a proud city of immigrants,” Bass said, “I am deeply angered by what has taken place. These tactics sow terror in our communities and disrupt basic principles of safety in our city. My Office is in close coordination with immigrant rights community organizations. We will not stand for this."
In case you think that Mayor Bass is condemning the rioters, think again. Bass is defending the attacks on federal officers. When she says that “these tactics sow terror,” she means that ICE is sowing terror, not the rioters. She is in “close coordination with immigrant rights” groups in order to support the mob. And the people of L.A. voted for her.
When Bass states that L.A. is a “proud city of immigrants,” she has it all wrong. L.A. is not a city of immigrants, it is a city of U.S. citizens. ICE is not rounding up immigrants or citizens; they are rounding up illegals who have committed crimes and have no right to be here. Bass is violating federal law and her responsibility as mayor. She was out to lunch when parts of her city burned down and she is missing in action again.
“[Bass’] twisted logic is simple,” explains Matt Margolis at PJMedia. “If you don't enforce the law, people won't riot; therefore, stop enforcing the law. That's not just an insane demand; it's an abdication of her fundamental responsibility to protect the citizens of Los Angeles.”

Governor Gavin Newsom is just as bad. First, he condemned the rioters. “They need to be arrested,” Newsom said. “It is wrong to destroy other people’s property, and it is wrong to create the conditions that only exacerbate this.” Rather than take action, he placed all the blame on Trump. “Donald Trump, at the end of the day, is the sponsor of these conditions,” Newsom said. “He’s putting fuel on this fire ever since he announced he was taking over the National Guard. You get these insurgent groups coming in, sort of these anarchists that are in there to create real problems, and they’re just playing right into Donald Trump’s hand.”
This is a massive joke. Do nothing and blame the president. Bass and Newsom “had no interest in stopping the rampage and look pathetic now that the president is showing how things are actually done,” said Bob Hoge in RedState. “The rogues' gallery of Golden State politicians who claim they’re powerless to solve the problem has been completely exposed by Trump. Just like with the manufactured border crisis—which Trump solved within days—the lawlessness problem can be solved equally effectively, as the president has shown.”
Hoge concedes that the LAPD did a good job dealing with the riots, but doubts they would have done anything were it not for Trump. “Newsom, Bass and the entire extremist California Progressive class have egg on their faces,” Hoge said, “as the Los Angeles anti-ICE protests were neutered by the president’s shaming of Golden State officials to take action, his decision to send in the National Guard and the Marines, and his refusal to tolerate violence.”
There can be no excuse when Bass and Newsom fail to act in a crisis. Democrat Sen. John Fetterman said it very well: “My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and assaulting law enforcement.” Unfortunately, Bass or Newsom probably don’t give a damn about the moral high ground. The reason they don’t want to stop the rioters is the same reason the Biden administration allowed millions into the country illegally. Their purpose is to enable civil discord, plus they want people who they think are likely Democrat voters.
Democrat politicians’ reactions to the riots taking place in Los Angeles showcase the destructive nature of their party’s platform. We see similar problems in every city run by Democrats—New York, Chicago, Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, San Francisco. Criminals are treated like victims and citizens are treated like criminals.
There can be no excuse when, thanks in large part to Democrats, our nation descends into rampant lawlessness. The Democratic Party has embraced violence as its modus operandi. We have watched cities and towns ravaged by marauding mobs of felons. Democrat mayors and prosecutors are turning our beautiful cities into playgrounds for criminals. The laissez faire attitude toward rioting has encouraged all other forms of felonious activity.
We haven’t seen the worst of it. “If this country doesn’t give us what we want,” said a Black Lives Matter spokesman, “then we will burn down this system and replace it.” Democrats promised more violence if Trump was re-elected, and that is what we are seeing in Los Angeles. Voters should think twice about giving power to Democrats.
