Flames streaked across Pearl Street Mall on Sunday, branding a message in fire: the culture that preached limitless tolerance can no longer police the killers it invites.
End-Stage Liberalism—the moment diversity mantras smother security alarms—has come to Boulder. Police say Mohamed Sabry Soliman, an Egyptian national, crashed a pro-Israel vigil, shouted, “How many children have you killed in Gaza?” and sprayed innocents with a homemade flamethrower. Hours later, it was revealed that he had longed for a year to “kill all Zionist people.” The scene in Boulder matched a playbook already visible from coast to capital, most recently when a Jewish couple was gunned down outside Washington’s Holocaust museum barely two blocks from the U.S. Capitol.
Soliman’s paper trail reads like a bureaucratic bedtime story. He arrived on a B-2 tourist visa Aug. 15, 2022; overstayed without penalty; filed for asylum that September; and, under standard protocol, received a work permit on March 6, 2023. The card expired in March, yet no enforcement arm came calling—sanctuary rules in Boulder treat visa deadlines as suggestions. The federal timeline alone gave him nineteen uninterrupted months to radicalize, assemble an incendiary device, and choose a date sure to catch Jews in the blast radius.
Officials raced to edit the narrative. Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser insisted the assault was a “hate crime,” not terrorism. Boulder’s police chief declined to name a motive at the first press conference, even though FBI Director Kash Patel had already called it a targeted act of terror. Their evasions ignored the ideology Soliman quoted verbatim—a creed that fuses Marx’s oppressor-versus-oppressed dogma with jihad’s promise of paradise, turning every Western sidewalk into a front line. Grievance language supplies the map; jihad furnishes the detonator. Boulder and D.C. supplied the proof.

Yet the Marx-Jihad Fusion is only the symptom; the disease is End-Stage Liberalism, the terminal phase of Western politics. Karl Marx mocked faith as opium rationed by elites, and his progressive heirs now treat Islam the same way—handy for rallies, dispensable after returns come in. Progressives run “queer-affirming Qur’an” workshops, legacy media brands University protests “mostly peaceful,” and administrators beam through land-acknowledgment rituals while Jewish students are barricaded in libraries. Liberalism’s immune system has crashed.
End-Stage Liberalism thrives on the conceit that religious fundamentalism is just another campaign prop. Secular strategists who sneer at church pews bankroll Islamist slogans for turnout drives, certain that the spin rooms shaping their narrative can silence the radicals once they’ve served their purpose. They’re wrong. Theology outranks focus groups, and every visa waiver or campus grants teaches the next recruit that the West is ripe for burning.
Containment begins at the perimeter. Humanitarian-parole shortcuts that wave applicants past inspection must end immediately. Work permits for asylum claimants should wait until a hearing affirms the claim instead of preceding it by years. Any foreign national who publicly advocates genocide forfeits the privilege of residence; deportation is self-defense, not bigotry. Europe’s red lights are blinking harder than ever: a Christmas-week car-ramming in Magdeburg underscored how Germany’s open-door largesse now ends in police cordons; Paris police hauled in 500 rioters over the weekend as immigrants turned streets into combat zones; and even Labour leader Keir Starmer warns Britain risks becoming “an island of strangers” if mass immigration continues unchecked. The United States is replaying that reel on fast-forward, hypnotized by the fantasy that grants and “dialogue” can civilize theology.
Paperwork alone will fail without cultural clarity. American self-government stands on a Christian anthropology: “We hold these truths to be self-evident.” That foundation can host many faiths; it cannot subsidize a movement that preaches legal supremacy and the murder of Jews. Public dollars must be barred from any campus, mosque, or nonprofit that advances the cause. Trustees, deans, mayors, and cabinet secretaries who hide behind procedure while zealots arm themselves should lose their posts and, if necessary, their pensions.
The political right must own its share of rot. For decades corporate lobbies demanded cheap labor and received visa expansions that carved profit-shaped holes in every barrier. That trade was merely an earlier manifestation of liberal hubris—the notion that GDP curves outrank moral order. Biden’s open border turned the frontier into a mere suggestion—and suggestions tempt the men eager to set it ablaze.
Critics will shout nativism. Let them read the affidavit: an illegal who enjoyed every due-process courtesy then tried to roast Jews alive because online jihad forums called it righteous. If that record fails to justify tighter entry rules, no evidence ever will.
Pearl Street’s scorched pavement ends the myth that radical faith is one more stripe in the social-justice rainbow. End-Stage Liberalism has produced a system that funds its own arsonists and blames the matchbook. Deport the radicals, shut the visa mills, and restore the nation’s Christian moral core—or watch the flames roll to the next town, and the next, until nothing remains to burn.
