When our government shuts down, it doesn’t just create headlines in Washington—it creates real anxiety in the hearts of selfless veterans across America. Worse still is the insult of knowing that it’s because Democrats are once again prioritizing illegal aliens over everyone else. This morning, a veteran named James called VetComm in tears. His question was simple but heartbreaking: “Will I still get paid next week? Because I can’t afford groceries if I don’t.” James served his country with honor, yet today he finds himself worried about putting food on the table because pandering Democrats in D.C. only care about forcing taxpayers to foot the medical bills of millions of illegal immigrants.

I've dedicated my life to fighting for vets like James—those who’ve bled for this country, only to watch so-called representatives in Washington bend over backward to support people who illegally invaded it. With today’s government shutdown, Democrats have once again slammed the door on our veterans to roll out the red carpet for illegal immigrants.

They're holding the entire nation hostage, demanding a poison-pill-packed funding bill loaded with nearly $1.5 trillion in radical demands—like free healthcare for illegals—while veteran programs teeter on the edge. It’s not just pandering; it’s the kind of malicious intent that previously spiked veteran homelessness by 19 percent while migrants got motel rooms on our dime.

The facts are undeniable and damning. The House passed a clean continuing resolution to keep the lights on without partisan games, including funding the VA at current levels to avoid chaos. But Senate Democrats, led by Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries, tossed the country into an unnecessary shutdown to appease their radical far-left base. Their ridiculous proposal is unworkable, stacked with giveaways that subsidize illegal aliens' doctor visits and hospital stays under the guise of compassion and healthcare rights, while hundreds of thousands of vets and their families rot on VA waitlists, some dying before they can get help.

And the hypocrisy doesn’t stop there. Schumer himself preached less than two years ago, "Avoiding a shutdown is very good news for the country, for our veterans... all of whom would have felt the sting." Even more recently, he posted that "a shutdown would mean chaos and pain and needless heartache for the American people," even stating from the Senate floor that “keeping the government open will mean no poison pills or reckless partisan posturing.”

AOC previously said, "It is not normal to shut down the government when we don’t get what we want," while Hakeem Jeffries once reminded the country that when it comes to a government shutdown, “it’s about the harm.”  Yet here they all are coordinating with liberal activist groups to force that harmful, painful, stinging government shutdown by weaponizing radical pet funding projects against the GOP and the nation.

This isn't new; it's a pattern of Democrat betrayal held over from the Biden-Harris admin that I've called out time and again. Just last year, the VA got busted reimbursing healthcare for illegal aliens and their families, siphoning resources while vets waited in endless lines.

I've seen it firsthand in San Diego: hotels packed with migrants while homeless warriors sleep on sidewalks, dodging needles. Democrats threw open the border like a free-for-all, inviting chaos that crashes into vets' lives, displacing them in shelters and overloading hospitals. Over 10 million crossings on their watch, and the fallout? Seemingly endless big bucks for illegals and the short end of the stick for veterans. The audacity to prioritize invaders over selfless patriots is truly shocking.
