The tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk is not merely the loss of a man, but the silencing of one of the most articulate defenders of faith, freedom, and America’s constitutional order. Charlie was a believer in God, and he recognized — as the Founders did — that liberty comes from Him, not from government. That conviction made him a champion of the Constitution and of America’s unique tradition of opportunity for all. It also made him a target for those on the extreme Left who increasingly despise both God and freedom.
A Life of Faith and Liberty
Charlie’s message was simple yet profound: God is the author of liberty. That idea was revolutionary in 1776, and it remains revolutionary today. Our Founders declared that our rights were “endowed by our Creator,” which meant that kings, parliaments, or bureaucrats could not take them away. Charlie never wavered from that principle.
He spent his career bringing that message to college campuses and public forums, challenging the socialist indoctrination that has saturated higher education. Unlike his opponents, he did not call for silencing or punishing dissenters. He believed in persuasion, in debate, in the power of truth to win the day. His courage and clarity made him an effective advocate — and for that reason, he became hated by the intolerant and extreme Left.
The Left’s Dangerous Rhetoric
The extreme Left often calls conservatives “Nazis” or “fascists.” This isn’t just a slander — it is a deliberate strategy to justify violence. If you can convince people that your opponents are Nazis, then you can rationalize almost any action against them, even murder. But there is no factual basis for such comparisons. Charlie Kirk, a man of faith who believed in freedom and opportunity for all, had nothing in common with the tyrannical regimes of the twentieth century. Indeed, the Nazis called themselves “National Socialists.” Their program was rooted in the same collectivist, statist impulses that today’s American Left embraces: centralized power, government control, suppression of dissent, and contempt for God.
Yet this slander persists because it serves the Left’s purpose. By demonizing those who disagree with them, they create a moral license for violence.
A Pattern of Violence
Charlie’s murder does not stand alone. It is part of a disturbing pattern of political violence emanating from the Left. We have seen transgender radicals shoot children in Christian schools. We have seen a would-be assassin target conservative Supreme Court justices. We have seen attempts on President Trump’s life. These are not isolated incidents. They are symptoms of a moral relativism that has taken root in the Left’s worldview.
For the relativist, right and wrong are not fixed by God or nature — they are defined by one’s feelings and political goals. Thus, if conservatives are labeled “dangerous,” then any action, including violence, becomes justified.
By contrast, those who believe that right and wrong come from God know that murder is always wrong, even when directed at political opponents. We may fight passionately against socialism and radical leftism, but we do not seek to silence them through violence. We seek to defeat them in the marketplace of ideas.
Charlie embodied this approach. He believed that socialism and the far Left are deeply harmful to America’s future. But he never suggested violence as a remedy. Instead, he traveled the nation speaking to young people, answering questions, and urging them to think for themselves. That is what made him so dangerous to the Left: he was breaking the chains of indoctrination.
Quotes Worth Remembering
Charlie often reminded audiences that “freedom is a fragile thing, and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction.” He called on students to “stand for truth, even when it’s unpopular, because truth does not bend to the mob.” He urged Americans to “choose courage over comfort.” These were not empty slogans. They reflected a deep faith in God, a confidence in truth, and a love for America’s founding principles. They are words worth remembering and living by as we face the challenges ahead.
Personal Reflections
I knew Charlie Kirk. We spoke, we shared platforms, and we fought for the same principles. Like Charlie, I have received threats from the Left; and like Charlie, I refuse to be silenced. My recent book — Let Freedom Ring… Again, Can Self Evident Truths Save America from Further Decline — is devoted to the very truths Charlie championed — truths that America desperately needs to rediscover. Charlie's death is a painful reminder of the stakes we face. If the forces of hate and control succeed in silencing voices like his, our nation’s future will grow darker. But if his death awakens Americans to the reality of the threat, then his voice will not be silenced — it will echo louder than ever.
What We Must Do
First, we must call this violence what it is: left-wing political terrorism. The media will attempt to downplay it, to explain it away, or to pretend that it is somehow “both sides.” But the reality is clear: conservatives are not hunting down their opponents; leftists are.
Second, we must refuse to retreat. The goal of political violence is always to intimidate. If we grow quiet, if we censor ourselves, if we back down, then the killers will have won. Third, we must recommit ourselves to the principles Charlie lived for: faith in God, love for family, fidelity to the Constitution, and a passion for liberty. These are the antidotes to the poison of socialism and tyranny.
Finally, we must pray for our nation. America’s problems are not merely political; they are spiritual. A people that abandons God will eventually abandon freedom. But a people that returns to God can rediscover the blessings of liberty.
Conclusion
Charlie Kirk’s assassination is a national tragedy. But it is also a wake-up call. It reminds us that freedom is under attack, not only from policies and bureaucracies, but from bullets fired by those who hate God and liberty.
Charlie gave his life standing for the truth. He showed us that courage, faith, and clarity can inspire millions. Now it is our turn. We must honor his legacy not by retreating, but by advancing the cause of freedom more boldly than ever.
I believe that Americans can rise to this challenge. I believe, as Charlie did, that self-evident truths can and will save America. But it will require us to be vigilant, courageous, and unwavering. Charlie Kirk may have been struck down, but the cause he championed lives on. Let us take up the mantle. Let us defend God-given liberty. And let us prove that America will not be silenced.
