While the former president is a “favorite of the USA,” attendees agree that Trump is a threat to the institution. Advocating for Kamala Harris, a Pakistani journalist opined that Harris is “very competent and very strong.” Another attendee, Sara Pires, the President of the Executive Board for Common Home of Humanity, shared with Newman that a Trump victory would call for an “even stronger Summit of the Future,” noting that a safeguard against the “challenges” of a second Trump administration would be reforming the United Nations’ Security Council, further eroding U.S. sovereignty.
