New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan has partially lifted former President Donald Trump’s gag order, removing restrictions to his ability to comment publicly about jurors and witnesses in the New York “hush money” trial. Trump was found guilty on 34 counts of falsifying business records on May 30, and the sentencing hearing is scheduled for July 11.

Prosecutors argued to keep the gag order in place, requesting it remain “at least through the sentencing hearing and the resolution of any post-trial motions,” stating Merchan has “an obligation to protect the integrity of these proceedings and the fair administration of justice.”
