The Democratic National Committee (DNC) thwarted the candidacy of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. It refused to hold debates and turned the rules and schedule against him in favor of Joe Biden, which Kennedy viewed as unfair, so he decided to run as an independent. Kennedy remains a true Democrat and stands for the values of his father and uncle, whereas the establishment of the Democratic Party has expropriated the brand. Essentially, the party has adopted ideas and policies that are undemocratic, such as the embrace of war and submission to corporate interests (think Big Pharma and the military-industrial complex), both of which have tremendously devasted the American middle class, according to Tony Lyons of Super PAC American Values 2024.
In this interview with The New American, Mr. Lyons talks about the key policy issues of RFK Jr.’s campaign, which include decoupling government policies from corporate influence and healing the political divide among Americans. Mr. Lyons shared insights on the fundraising success of Kennedy’s campaign and outlined how Democrats have heavily engaged in censorship and propaganda to smear Kennedy’s name. Despite this effort, his popularity is rising, recently hitting a 27-percentile among Democrats, according to the Super PAC’s most recent survey. Yet Kennedy is going to draw from both Biden and Trump equally, opined Mr. Lyons, noting that both the DNC and RNC “are owned by the big corporations.” Reflecting on reasons why Kennedy may appeal to Republicans, Lyons said that, unlike Trump, who promised to “drain the Swamp,” Kennedy has a blueprint on how to accomplish it, as well as a 40-year record of suing the government and corporations.
Other questions discussed in this interview include Kennedy’s views on taxation, immigration, his upcoming participation at CPAC, and the denunciation of his campaign by some of the members of the Kennedy family.
