State Representative Enrique Sanchez/X

The Democrats might well have found a new leader for the party who might be more worthy than such bright lights as Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts.

The new prospect is Rhode Island state Representative Enrique Sanchez, who recently landed in hot water for calling Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents — who had arrested an MS-13 terror gang member — “Nazi Gestapo ICE thugs.”

Yesterday, he did it again. And this time, he warned that he would soon “confront” such agents “in person” and unleash a “day of reckoning.”

Such a threat is nearly inexplicable, except for one thing. Sanchez’s past and the time of the latest attack on X raise the observation that he might have been drunk-posting.

Young Sanchez’s moonbats flew out of his belfry after ICE arrested 27-year-old Ivan Rene Mendoza Meza, again, an MS-13 terror gang member.

ICE told Fox News that “Mendoza attempted to flee, causing a crash by striking ICE vehicles before running into his apartment. He was eventually surrounded and surrendered to agents,” the network reported:

Mendoza was seen smirking in his arrest photo, seeming to be unfazed by his capture.

Mendoza has a history of criminal activity, including fentanyl trafficking charges in Rhode Island. ICE Boston had previously lodged an immigration detainer against him following those charges in August 2023. However, the 6th District Court of Rhode Island declined to honor the detainer, releasing Mendoza without notifying ICE, forcing agents to locate and arrest him in the community.

Amusingly, Sanchez blamed the wrecked cars on ICE’s pursuing agents. And Mendoza, he wrote, wasn’t the villain in the story. ICE was.

“The Nazi Gestapo ICE thugs kidnapped another of our neighbor in Providence this morning,” he wrote on X:

This time on Alverson st.

The ICE thugs damaged a couple cars that belonged to residents as well. They think they are above the law. I strongly condemn this act of terror and will be demanding answers and seeking action tomorrow. I am tired of this s**t. Providence doesn’t want ICE thugs in our city.

For Sanchez, an MS-13 terror gang member is “our neighbor.” Sane Providentians might disagree.

Sanchez unbosomed himself of another attack yesterday.

“It will be soon the day that I confront these Nazi ICE thugs in person for terrorizing our communities,” he ranted on X:

It will be a day of reckoning and no going back.

I hope the people of Providence and Rhode Island have our back. They will try to end our work and put down our struggle.

“The people of Providence and Rhode Island” might well wonder why they voted for an elected official who threatens federal agents, which happens to violate 18 U.S. Code 155. It punishes anyone who “threatens to assault … a Federal law enforcement officer.”

As Voice of Sanity replied:

The sane residents of Rhode Island want nothing to do with your violent threats against Federal Employees & others. You can explain them to the Judge after you’re arrested.

And given that Sanchez warned that he would “confront” ICE agents in “person” and that “it will be a day of reckoning and no going back,” a law enforcement official can’t be blamed for thinking that Sanchez plans something beyond an assault.

That aside, when a writer for The Blaze asked him to “clarify” his comments about ICE and condemn anti-ICE violence, Sanchez answered today on X. “Clarify what comments? Tf ???? ????,” the “Latino” legislator wrote:

Also, can this administration condemn the actions and violence that ICE thugs impose on individuals seeking a better life?

Providentians might wonder why an elected official with all of his marbles would threaten federal agents — again, a federal crime.

Answer: His past with alcohol is a possible explanation.

As The New American reported about his first furious X post, a cop arrested Sanchez for drunk driving in February. The cop said Sanchez was stopped at a red light and didn’t move when it turned green. He was also confused and handed the cop a debit card as identification. When he told the cop he was heading home to Providence from a friend’s house, the cop informed him that he was driving in the wrong direction.

Sanchez refused a breathalyzer test. Though his blood-alcohol content is thus unknown, his heading home in the wrong direction suggests that he had consumed enough alcohol to float a Tesla full of “Nazi Gestapo Ice thugs.”

The drunk-driving charge was dismissed, but a judge ordered Sanchez to complete 10 hours of community service. The judge also ordered him into alcohol treatment.

Sanchez posted his threat to “confront” ICE “in person” and deliver a “day of reckoning,” at 9:01 p.m. on Wednesday. That’s plenty of time to tie one on after a tough day of shilling for MS-13 members.

At this writing, the threat is headed toward 300,000 views.
