Schara v. Ascension Health is a landmark lawsuit currently taking place in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Scott Schara is suing the hospital system and several healthcare practitioners who he believes singled out his daughter, Grace, because she had Down syndrome. She lost her life in their Covid ward in 2021, and he believes her life was sacrificed on the altar of government protocols for monetary gain.
The New American has covered the Scharas’ ongoing saga many times during the past few years, and is now working with Children’s Health Defense to coordinate a livestream of the case, beginning June 3.
During the case, the Schara family is unable to grant media appearances. Therefore, a prayer vigil they had planned on Sunday, June 1, had to be canceled. Regardless, many friends showed up, and the result was beautiful. Below is a firsthand account written by a friend of the family. Enjoy:
It turns out, by Divine intervention, there was a church group meeting nearby Sunday evening. When one of them realized that I was connected with the prayer rally that had been canceled, he gathered the small Church group together. He talked about who Grace was, and how she died. Some of those, in the small group, of about eight adults, had heard bits and pieces about Grace and this lawsuit.
They decided to pray right then and there. It was the most awesome spur of the moment uplifting of prayers that I’ve heard in a long, long time.
They took turns praying out loud. They prayed, of course, for justice. They lifted up Scott’s family to be comforted. They prayed for warrior angels to be present in the courtroom, in all four corners of the courtroom, to keep evil away.
They prayed for repentance. They prayed for others that have suffered similar losses.
They prayed for the jury, that they would recognize the truth when it is presented. They prayed that the jury would have eyes to see the truth, ears to hear the truth, and a heart to receive the truth. They prayed that the jury could come to realize that they too may need to unravel things they have heard all their lives, things that they were told, and never questioned before, and now are hearing in the trial, things that they may not have thought at one time, would be possible, that hospitals could be incentivized for profit, to follow protocols, that would lead to death of their patients.
They prayed, thanking the Lord, that Grace is in heaven.
They prayed for the judge, they prayed for Scott’s legal team. They prayed over and over again for Scott’s family.
They prayed and prayed, I’m not sure for how long, I’m going to guess for 10 minutes maybe even 15 minutes.
I myself was choked up, but I, too, was able to pray out loud with these prayer warriors.
I prayed like some of the others, that justice would prevail even if it has to go through a legal system that is not a true justice system.
After the prayers, I reached into my pocket, where I had just enough purple wristbands [supporting the Schara family], that I had picked up on Wednesday, May 21st, but I didn’t know who I would be giving them to.
My wife said it was God who had me pick those up, knowing that I would have the perfect group of people to give them to. They were grateful and honored to put those purple wristbands on.
Anyway, I think that’s enough information, and hopefully, enlightens you as to what even can happen at a CANCELED prayer rally.
