Multiple petitions at Change.org urge leniency for Harjinder Singh, the illiterate Indian illegal-alien truck driver who killed three people on the Florida Turnpike on August 14.

The most significant is heading toward three million signatures, while two others show less than 100,000.

Meanwhile, a supposedly American truck driver has posted a competing petition urging the deportation of those who support Singh.

Cops allege and video from the cab of his 18-wheeler shows that Singh, 28, illegally made a U-turn from the right-hand northbound lane on the turnpike near Fort Pierce. The turn Singh used was for “official use only.”

A Chrysler minivan smashed into the trailer. Two of the victims died instantly. The driver died at the hospital. Singh walked away without a scratch.

The Transportation Department later revealed that Singh — who received a work permit from the Biden administration — miserably failed two English tests, one verbal and one about road signage.

Yet two states, far-left California and Washington, issued the illegal alien, who jumped the border in 2018, commercial driver’s licenses.

After the crash, Singh fled to California, where federal marshals arrested him. California Governor Gavin Newsom blamed the Trump administration for the wreck and falsely claimed that California cops had arrested a “murder suspect.”

On Saturday, a judge denied bond for Singh.

And last week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio suspended work visas for foreign truck drivers.

“The increasing number of foreign drivers operating large tractor-trailer trucks on U.S. roads is endangering American lives and undercutting the livelihoods of American truckers,” Rubio wrote on X.

The largest petition seeking Singh’s release comes from the “Collective Punjabi Youth.” They expect GOP Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to grant Singh an easy sentence or outright clemency.

“This was a tragic accident — not a deliberate act,” the collective wrote:

While accountability matters, the severity of the charges against him does not align with the circumstances of the incident.

It wasn’t an “incident,” it was a fatal crash that left three Americans dead, which the petition claims was “a catastrophe, not a criminal act.”

Singh had “no criminal intent.”

The petition, with more than 2.8 million signatories at this writing, requests three things:

 1. Impose a proportionate and reasonable sentence that reflects the reality this was a tragic accident, not an intentional act of harm. The punishment should be firm but fair — ensuring justice without being excessively harsh.

 2. Allow parole eligibility after a fair portion of the sentence has been served, promoting rehabilitation, accountability, and the chance for a second opportunity in life.

 3. Consider alternative sentencing measures — such as restorative justice, counseling, or community service — that uphold responsibility while also fostering compassion and true rehabilitation.

Then again, the petition also asks DeSantis to grant clemency to “reaffirm the value of proportional justice, the power of community advocacy, and the potential for rehabilitation.”

That petition is accompanied by videos of Indians, some of whom can barely speak English.

A second petition, nearing 80,000 signatures, seeks “leniency.”

“It’s important to consider that accidents, while devastating, often do not originate from malicious intent.” the petition says:

In many cases, they are the result of a combination of misjudgments and unfortunate circumstances. Punishing Mr. Singh with such severity does not serve justice nor does it bring closure or healing to the victims’ families. Instead, a fair and compassionate approach should be adopted when examining the context and contributing factors of this tragedy.

A third petition claims to “represent the Sikh community — a community that is much larger than many realize, not only in the USA but all around the world.”

“This was not a deliberate action with malicious intent, but a devastating accident resulting from a U-turn gone wrong,” the petition says.

The three homicide charges that Singh faces “do not align with the unintentional nature of this accident,” the petition continues:

An overly harsh sentence would not only be unjust but also a failure to acknowledge the human element of error and misfortune. Singh is a young man whose life could be irreparably altered by a sentence that treats him as if he acted with criminal intent.

That plea has almost 15,000 signatures.

In response, another petition wants the deportation of Singh’s supporters.

“I am a truck driver and a heritage American, and I’m sick of my nation and profession being used as a dumping ground,” the petition says. Signatories of the largest pro-Singh petition “not only undermine the legal system but also pose a potential threat to public safety by advocating leniency for someone whose actions led to irreversible consequences,” it continued:

It’s crucial that our country sends a clear message: we will not tolerate such recklessness, nor will we shelter those who support it.

The petition was signed by “Hugh Mann.” A commenter claimed that “Hugh Mann” is really a Sikh-hating Hindu.

“This so called petition is started in Australia by the Hindu lady who is supporter of India to tarnish the image of Sikh people in USA as the Sikhs are slaves in India and here in the west we are lobbying so we can free our homeland Punjab from Indian occupation,” the writer claimed.

The writer also reported the petition as bogus, the comment says.
