Be careful about the beasts you create, the beasts you nurture, the beasts you feed. Liberal pundit Juan Williams learned this (or did he?) the hard way in 2010, when NPR fired him after a confession that seeing people in Muslim garb on airplanes made him nervous. (Apparently, you can’t be liberal and human.) Now CNN anchor Jake Tapper has gotten a bit of the “Leon Trotsky” treatment, over his 15-year-old son’s police ambitions. And, no, Tapper won’t be fired. But he is fired up over what he views as an attack on his lad — and over Democrats’ woke-joke status.

The Daily Mail reported on the story recently, writing:

Tapper lashed out after a left-leaning podcast host made a crack about his 15-year-old son’s desire to become a cop — saying that’s why liberals are getting thumped at the voting booth.

Tapper, 56, spoke about his April 2 experience on the podcast while joining a separate podcast Thursday [5/22] hosted by NYU Professor Scott Galloway to promote his new book about the Biden health cover-up.

Tapper had been telling Galloway about his son Jack’s job aspirations when he was reminded of his appearance on another podcast early last month.

Tapper did not name the podcast, How Long Gone, or his interviewers during the conversation Thursday, but he did recount the reaction he got from a co-host when Tapper discussed his son.

“We were talking about my kids… and they asked me about my son,” Tapper told Galloway.

“And I said he was, you know, he’s, he’s a football player and he wants to be a policeman. And their joke was about my 15-year-old son, ‘Oh, how does he feel about minorities?’

“Like the idea that he wants to be a policeman, therefore he’s racist, my son,” Tapper said.

Co-hosts Jason Stewart, who asked Tapper the question, and Chris Black were heard cackling as Tapper remained silent.

For sure, Tapper didn’t like being on the receiving end of the woke beast. As The Independent informed, the liberal anchor also complained:

“And then I got dragged in the comments and all that stuff and I thought to myself, ‘This is why you f***ers are losing elections.’”

“He’s 15. He thinks about World War II and gaming and playing linebacker, that’s his world,” Tapper continued. “You’re deciding he’s a racist because he wants to be a cop. And why does he want to be a cop? He wants to be a cop because he wants to help people, you know, and he thinks that’s the best way he can help people. And that’s how the Democratic Party talks to men, not just white men, but men.”

This is true, of course. Yet just as with Tapper’s day-late-and-dollar-short book about Biden’s dementia (“Oh, how did we miss the story?!”), it’s no revelation. And as with that story, Tapper is part of the problem.

This, also being no revelation, did not elude observers. For example, one Daily Mail commenter wrote that Tapper was “[g]etting a taste of his own medicine.” Another, likewise stated:

“And Jake [h]as done the same thing, calling others by vile names because of politics.”

You sure can say that again. Just consider a sampling of Tapper lowlights commentator Rajan Laad provided today. In a piece titled, “Jake Tapper Meets the Frankenstein Monster He Helped Create,” he wrote:

Tapper, like most reporters in the mainstream media, has frequently, baselessly, and casually played the race card against right-leaning individuals.

So, in a way, Tapper himself is partially responsible for any aspersions cast upon his son. After all, he helped normalize the reflexive hurling of “racism” accusations.

(Note: Podcaster Chris Black responded to Tapper, saying his comment was a joke the anchor was purposely taking seriously. It’s true it was a joke, too — but it also was stale and unfunny.)

Tapper also should realize that his son is guilty just by virtue of being white and male (“white privilege”), according to the worldview the anchor has helped enable. In a nutshell and as Laad points out:

The [racial] divisiveness that was aimed at winning an election or a political argument is [now] part of the culture and fabric of society.

Thanks to Tapper and his fellow travelers.

Aside from political expediency, however, there can be another reason leftists call their opponents are bigots: projection.

People tend to project their own mindsets onto others, ascribing to others motives to which they can relate. Thus do liars expect lies and the honest and gullible, honesty. And what is the mindset in question? It’s more like a “heartset,” really.

It’s well known that leftists tend to operate on emotion, and a major reason for this involves philosophical orientation. While traditionalists are more likely to believe in Truth — objective, by definition — leftists virtually never do. They are moral relativists/nihilists, assuming that, as Greek philosopher Protagoras put it, “Man is the measure of all things.” Thus, without the Truth to reference when making decisions, they rely on the most compelling yardstick they have left: emotion. Hence the credo they once made famous, “If it feels good, do it.”

How does this relate to bigotry, to prejudice? Prejudice means to “pre-judge,” to form a negative opinion without due consideration of the facts. As Merriam-Webster puts it, it is an “an irrational attitude of hostility….”

And the emotional realm is the home of irrationality.

So if your behavior guide is emotion, you will inevitably damn yourself to bigot status. This is why, for example, left-wing editor Sarah Jeong would unapologetically send vile anti-white tweets. (It’s also partially why The New York Times stood by her.) It why a University of Georgia teaching assistant would, without flinching, compare whites to sociopaths. It’s why studies find that liberals are more biased than conservatives, show less empathy to political opponents, and are more hateful. And it explains that virulent, irrational, intractable condition known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.

It also sheds light on why leftists ascribe bigoted motives to conservatives. They assume there just must be an emotional reason for a position their opponents take. For emotional reasons are just about the only reasons that exist in their world. So, dislike illegal migration or the “trans” agenda? It just has to be because you feel the emotion of hate for illegal migrants or “trans” people. That’s the rationale of the irrational.

Addendum: For those interested, I present the three-minute video below. In it I explain how white people can counter a racism charge and put the accuser on his heels.
