The union for Los Angeles cops has demanded the resignation and prosecution of the small-town vice mayor who urged Hispanic gangs to fight Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to stop the deportation of illegal aliens.
The Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) called the social media post by Cynthia Gonzalez “shameful” because she risked the lives of police officers.
Gonzalez’s words are the most extreme from a hate-Trump, far-left official since the mass deportations began. While others have said they would resist ICE, none have encouraged gangs to attack law enforcement.
Unclear is whether Gonzalez, vice mayor of Cudahy, was in her right mind when she called upon the gangs to get with her program. Civil disobedience to stop the deportation of illegals isn’t enough, she said. The gangs must step in.
“Not for nothing, but I want to know where all the cholos are at in Los Angeles?” she began, calling upon the 18th Street and Florencia 13 gangs to wage war against Immigration and Customs Enforcement. And, the union worries, she would include cops on the street who assist ICE in controlling protesters.
The gangs have not joined the struggle to fight deportations on their territory, she complained. “We’re out there, like, fighting for our turf, protecting our turf, protecting our people, and like, where you at?” she asked of the gangs.
Gonzalez said ICE and cops are “running amok all up in your, on your streets, on your streets and in your city, and peep.” She complained that residents who were not “jumped in” to gangs were protesting while the gangs sat on the sidelines.
“So don’t be trying to claim no block, no nothing, if you’re not showing up right now, trying to, like, help out and organize,” she said:
I don’t want to hear a peep out of you once they’re gone, trying to claim that this is my block. This was not your block. You weren’t even here helping out. So whoever’s the leadership over there, just f**king get your members in order.
Fox News’ Bill Melugin revealed on X that federal authorities are investigating Gonzalez.
As The New American disclosed of her Facebook posts, Gonzalez is a revanchist who says that “California Will Always Be Brown.” When she warned followers of an impending ICE enforcement operation, someone who replied said illegals should “get a pit bull” to attack agents.
Understandably, cops whom the gangs might attack weren’t all that happy about Gonzalez’s deranged invitation to the gangs.
“The LAPPL is demanding the resignation of Cudahy Vice-Mayor Cynthia Gonzalez for her shameful social media video post advocating for violent street gangs to confront peace officers,” the union wrote in a news release and on X.
Both gangs “have a known history of murdering police officers. In 1998, an 18th Street gang member murdered LAPD Officer Filberto Cuesta,” the union said:
Recently, several Florencia gang members were convicted of the 2022 murder of LAPD Officer Fernando Arroyos.
What Ms. Gonzalez urged and taunted these specific gangs to do in her social media post puts police officers and other law enforcement professionals at greater risk. Her actions are deplorable and potentially illegal. She should resign and she should be prosecuted if what she called for broke the law.
Catarino Gonzalez, Jr. ambushed Cuesta in his patrol car as he and his partner awaited back-up outside a wedding party. The gang member shot Cuesta in the head. He was 26 years old and the father of two girls, 18 months and 4 weeks old.
Ernesto Cisneros, Jesse Contreras, and Luis De La Rosa Rios murdered Arroyos, who was off-duty when they tried to rob him. The young cop was looking for a new home when they attacked him.
