President Joe Biden’s open-border policy is the punishment that keeps on punishing.
The latest horror story from one of the “migrants” Biden’s border authorities caught and released into the heartland is a vicious hit-and-run that nearly killed 21-year-old Floridian Zach Carach.
Police have identified a suspect in the vehicular mauling: Tony Lopez Infante, a 32-year-old, border-jumping Venezuelan.
Lopez Infante hit Carach, police allege, when the young man was on vacation in Nashville, Tennessee, the city where the far-left mayor doxed ICE agents who were doing their job: arresting illegals such as Lopez Infante.
Young Carach and his folks were visiting Nashville from their home in Escambia County, Florida, to party for his birthday on May 18. Zach turned 21.
But “what started as a fun celebration turned tragic in just a couple of seconds,” ABC affiliate WEAR3 reported:
Surveillance video captured the broad daylight hit-and-run on camera.
“[Zach] needed to go in and use the restroom, and the rest of us had went across the street to the car,” said mother Sheena Carach.…
After a few minutes, Zach walked out of the business. He waited at the crosswalk before crossing the street.
When he stepped past the bus parked on the street, a Mitsubishi Mirage plowed into him and continued driving.
“They never even stopped, they never even slowed,” Sheena said. “They didn’t brake. They just kept going. And I watched this happen to my child.”
Days later, cops fingered Lopez Infante as the suspect. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) told the ABC affiliate that the Venezuelan illegal “has multiple outstanding warrants.” The station didn’t report the nature of the warrants, or whether ICE suspects Lopez Infante of being a member of the Tren de Aragua terror gang out of Venezuela.
News Channel 5 in Nashville reported that cops found the car at a rental facility with front-end damage. They’ll charge the fugitive with “with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, failure to render aid/file an accident report, attempted evidence tampering and driving without a license and insurance,” the station reported. As well, “Lopez Infante is … wanted in Williamson County on an outstanding probation violation warrant related to a theft arrest.”
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported the Venezuelan suspect’s immigration status. It’s the usual:
Lopez Infante illegally entered the United States on August 1, 2023, and was released into the country on August 14, 2023, pending removal proceedings. On September 25, 2024, an immigration judge issued a final order of removal.
Another day, another Biden “migrant” linked to a serious crime.
“An illegal alien who should never have been in the U.S. allegedly struck a young man who was celebrating his 21st birthday in a hit-and-run crash and is still at large,” said DHS spokesman Tricia McLaughlin:
The Biden Administration released this illegal alien into our country in 2023.
This crime was preventable and is the direct result of open border policies that prioritized illegal aliens over the safety of American citizens.
The hit-and-run is another black eye for the city and its far-left Democratic mayor, Freddie O’Connell.
Two committees of the U.S. House of Representatives, Justice and Homeland Security, are investigating O’Connell for what Tennessee’s GOP Representative Andy Ogles says is “aiding and abetting” illegals.
The committees launched the probe after O’Connell’s response to ICE’s apprehending 196 illegal aliens. Ninety-five “had prior criminal convictions and pending criminal charges, while 31 were previously removed individuals who reentered the United States illegally, a felony offense under federal law,” ICE reported. Arrested were a rapist and an MS-13 terror-gang associate wanted for murder in El Salvador.
O’Connell didn’t care.
After the raid, he retaliated against ICE by ordering city officials, notably cops, to report any communication or interaction with ICE to his office within 24 hours.
Ogles wrote to the committee bosses, Judiciary’s Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Homeland Security’s Mark Green (R-Tenn.). In his letter, he demanded a probe of the mayor’s subversive activities, noting that O’Connell’s actions
raises serious questions about whether [he] is now obstructing federal law enforcement and possibly even actively aiding and abetting illegal aliens.
But then O’Connell escalated the feud by doxing the names of ICE agents on the city’s website.
DHS spokesman McLaughlin accused O’Connell of obstruction and harboring criminal aliens. Noting that the doxing was termed a “mistake,” she noted O’Connell’s subversion:
They claimed it was a mistake. There’s zero chance it was a mistake, and there will be repercussions. Our ICE enforcement officers are already facing a 400-percent increase in assaults against them. And he’s essentially handing over intelligence to these criminal gangs so that they can target our ICE enforcement officials.
Border czar Tom Homan promised “action” on the mayor’s irresponsible move to protect illegal-alien rapists and murderers. “We’re not playing with any threats to these ICE officers,” he said. “Doxing … we’re going to take action on that also.”
Illegal aliens such as Lopez Infante are well known for reckless driving and driving without a license.
Venezuelan illegal Endrina Bracho awaits trial on first-degree involuntary manslaughter in the vehicular homicide of 12-year-old Travis Wolfe in Hazelwood, Missouri, on December 20, 2023. She too, police allege, was driving without a license.
Bracho zoomed a third of a mile at 75 mph on the wrong side of a 40-mph street and struck the Wolfe family’s vehicle, police allege.
