Far-left Democratic Mayor Brandon Johnson announced today that Chicago will create ICE-free zones when he signs an executive order banning Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents from city property and “unwilling businesses.”

The move comes three days after Chicago cops were ordered not to protect Border Patrol (CBP) agents when domestic terrorists attempted to kill them by surrounding and ramming their vehicles. Audio of the order to leave the agents at the mercy of the terrorists has gone viral on X. Agents were forced to fire on a leftist who carried a semiautomatic firearm.

Another leftist rammed an ICE vehicle later that day.

On Sunday, far-left Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker, who has compared the President Donald Trump and his administration to Nazi Germany, said ICE must “get out” of the crime-ridden metropolis.

The rebellion against the enforcement of federal immigration laws began Friday when Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz attacked the Border Patrol agents. The agents were in an SUV, providing security for a convoy of U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents.

In what sounds like an attempted murder, the criminal complaint alleges, Martinez, driving a silver Nissan Rogue, and Ruiz, driving a black GMC Envoy, chased the agents

aggressively, culminating in MARTINEZ, in the Martinez Vehicle, and RUIZ, in the Ruiz Vehicle, driving into and striking the [U.S. Customs and Border Protection] Vehicle on both the driver’s and passenger’s side, respectively, leading to a temporary loss of control of the CBP Vehicle.

The CBP vehicle was a silver Chevy Tahoe. The Rogue and the Envoy are also SUVs.

Worse than that, however, the complaint alleges:

Once the CBP Vehicle had stopped and the BPAs [Border Patrol agents] exited the CBP Vehicle, MARTINEZ drove the Martinez Vehicle at BPA 1.

Frighteningly, “multiple vehicles” were involved in the attack. Agents told the the FBI:

Many … civilian vehicles drove aggressively and erratically towards the CBP Vehicle, including by driving within inches of the CBP Vehicle, pulling up alongside both the passenger’s and driver’s side of the CBP Vehicle, and disobeying traffic laws, including running red lights and stop signs, driving in the wrong lane, and driving the wrong way down one-way streets in order to pursue the CBP Vehicles.

The CBP Tahoe pulled away from the other convoy vehicles to draw the attackers away. Then, continues the complaint:

A dark pickup truck cut in front of the CBP Vehicle, the Martinez Vehicle drove up along the driver’s side of the CBP Vehicle, the Ruiz Vehicle drove up along the passenger’s side of the CBP Vehicle, and another vehicle drove near the rear of the CBP Vehicle.

… The Martinez Vehicle drove into and side-swiped the driver’s side of the CBP Vehicle. A moment thereafter, the Ruiz Vehicle drove into and struck the rear right quadrant of the CBP Vehicle.

After Ruiz and Martinez trapped the SUV, the agents exited the vehicle. Martinez drove her Nissan Rogue at an agent, who then fired five shots at her. Ruiz and Martinez fled the scene, and were later captured.

The two suspects will be charged with assaulting, resisting, and impeding federal agents.

Audio confirms that city cops were ordered to stand down and not help the agents. When a dispatcher said she wanted to confirm that she was to wave off cops headed to the scene, a voice replied, “Again, those are the orders we’re being given.” The dispatcher told the cops to “hold off.”

Fox News’ Bill Melugin posted a document that shows the order came from the department’s chief of patrol, Jon Hein. “No units will respond to this,” the document says.

Video shows an ICE vehicle being attacked later that day.

Plus, according to Tricia McLaughlin, spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Martinez “was named in a CBP intelligence bulletin last week for doxing agents online.”

Patrick Yoes, president of the National Fraternal Order of Police, and Chris Southwood, president of the Illinois state FOP lodge, were appalled that cops were ordered not to assist the federal agents.

“Let me be clear, both the National FOP and the Illinois FOP believe that when an officer calls for assistance, you answer, no matter what,” Yoes said.

Said Southwood:

The number one unwritten rule in law enforcement is that we respond to any calls from officers in distress. What would have happened if the local police were facing threats and nearby federal officers were told not to assist? Whether you agree about immigration enforcement or not, when a law enforcement officer is in trouble, nothing should stand in the way of fellow officers rendering assistance.

In defending President Trump’s decision to order in the National Guard yesterday, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem called the city a “war zone.” She said leftists have put bounties on ICE agents:

“It’s about $2,000 to kidnap them, $10,000 to kill them,” she told Fox News.

Indeed, Illinois Gov. Pritzker is unmoved, telling CNN’s State of the Union Sunday:

[Federal agents are] just picking up people who are brown and black and then checking their credentials.

They are the ones that are making it a war zone. They need to get out of Chicago if they’re not going to focus on the worst of the worst, which is what the president said they were going to do.

In April, Pritzker likened Trump and Republicans to Nazis.

For his part, Mayor Johnson chimed in on the ICE-free zone nonsense:

Today we are signing an executive order aimed at reining in this out of control administration. The order establishes ICE-free zones. That means that city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as staging grounds for these raids.
