The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit begins tomorrow in San Francisco. Chinese President Xi Jinping will be attending APEC from Tuesday to Friday, with the White House confirming that President Biden will meet with Xi in San Francisco on Wednesday. Biden and Xi are expected to discuss key issues concerning trade, Taiwan, and the deteriorating relationship between China and the United States.
In response to concerns of the city being in decline, the city of San Francisco has been cleaning up sidewalks, graffiti, and relocating homeless people indoors in preparation for the event. San Francisco Police Department Chief Bill Scott has stated that the city is working with federal and state law enforcement to provide operational security for the event, and will be policing the planned protests who oppose the APEC summit.
