Welcome to The Times of Israel’s Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what’s happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world.

Military correspondent Emanuel Fabian and political writer Tal Schneider join host Jessica Steinberg for today’s episode.

Fabian discusses Sunday’s visit to Israel of Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr., chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, hours after Hezbollah launched hundreds of rockets and drones at Israel, with an even larger attack thwarted.

He touches on a military probe into how a Navy sailor died and two were injured on a patrol boat as a result of the Sunday Hezbollah rocket and drone attack.

Fabian also describes the IDF drone strike in the West Bank that killed five people in a terror command room — including a Hamas member released by Israel in the November 2023 hostage-truce deal.

Schneider takes a look at National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir’s latest incendiary statements regarding Jewish prayer at the Temple Mount, for which both Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and an ultra-Orthodox newspaper called him out.
