Biden: Brexit deal will bring in US billions

Joe Biden has lavished praise on Rishi Sunak's new Brexit deal, as he said the Windsor Framework will lead to "significant investment" in Northern Ireland

The US President said there are "scores" of American companies that want to invest in Northern Ireland and the framework will provide the "stability and predictability" for them to do so.

Delivering a speech at Ulster University in Belfast, Mr Biden said that since the Good Friday Agreement was signed 25 years ago, the size of Northern Ireland's economy had doubled and he believed in the years ahead it could "more than triple".

You can follow all the details of Mr Biden's trip on our politics live blog. Meanwhile, police officers are investigating a security breach after a top-secret document with details regarding the US President's visit to Belfast was found on the street.

A member of the public discovered the document - Neil Johnston has more details on what the operational note included.

Biden doesn't hate Britain, White House insists

The US President met the leaders of Northern Ireland’s major political parties before giving a speech on Wednesday. He urged the DUP to drop its year-long boycott of the Northern Ireland Assembly and accept Mr Sunak’s new Brexit deal.

However, many Unionists believe Mr Biden, who often celebrates his Irish roots, supports a united Ireland. Arlene Foster, the former First Minister of Northern Ireland and DUP leader, said the president "hates the United Kingdom, I don't think there's any doubt about that".

Our Europe Editor James Crisp writes that Mr Biden will struggle to win over Unionists when his colours are nailed to Ireland’s mast.

Prince Harry to attend Coronation – without Meghan

The Duke of Sussex will attend his father’s Coronation alone, with Meghan opting to remain in California, Buckingham Palace has announced.

Meghan will remain at the couple’s home in Montecito, California, with the couple’s two children, three-year-old Archie and Lilibet, aged one.

Many factors influenced the Duchess’s decision not to attend the Coronation, but one was chief among them, report Victoria Ward and India McTaggart - read the full story to find out what the crucial factor was.
