An awkward Vladimir Putin joined schoolchildren in singing the national anthem in Moscow.

The Russian president and the crowd repeatedly chanted “Russia” before breaking into song at a youth event.

It was launched in 2008 under the name Movement of the First.

The convention prepares children and young people for a “fully fledged life in society”, according to its website.
