Taylor Swift was booed by Philadelphia Eagles fans on Sunday night after being shown on the big screen during the Super Bowl.
It came as a star-studded audience piled into New Orleans’s Caesars Superdome stadium to watch the NFL title game, including President Donald Trump, footballer Lionel Messi and tennis star Serena Williams.
Ms Swift, the pop star and girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, appeared to be caught off guard when her appearance was met by jeers.
The 35-year-old singer flashed a side-eyed smirk at the camera as she watched her boyfriend from a private box alongside friends Ice Spice, Ashley Avignone and members of the rock band Haim.
“What’s going on?” she appeared to ask those around her.
Meanwhile, Mr Trump was met by both cheers and boos as he entered the arena, becoming the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl.
He took to his Truth Social platform after the game to comment on the boos directed at the pop star, hinting that it may have been partly down to her support of his rival Kamala Harris.
“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” he wrote, following the team’s 40-22 trouncing at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles.
“She got booed out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”
