Emmanuel Macron has posted a tongue-in-cheek montage of deepfake videos of himself in the guise of a bunch of celebrities to publicise an artificial intelligence summit that opens in Paris on Monday.

The medley of deepfakes opens with the 47-year-old French president in a mullet dancing to the 1980s hit “Voyage, Voyage” by Desireless.

Other fakes include Mr Macron taking the place of an influencer giving a hairdressing tutorial or channelling French performer Nekfeu, rapping and showing off his moves, as well as actor Jean Dujardin in a scene from French spy spoof film OSS 117.

“Well played,” he tells followers in a post on Instagram, which had racked up 135,000 likes by Sunday afternoon.

“It’s pretty well done, it made me laugh,” said the real Emmanuel Macron in the post, whose underlying aim was to draw attention to the AI Action summit taking place on Monday and Tuesday at Paris’s Grand Palais.
