Demonstrating farmers in India have used kites to harry and down police drones that have been firing tear gas at the protesters as they march to demand higher prices from the government for their crops.

A wide range of objects have been used as missiles to fend off the drones, including rocks and tennis balls.

Security forces use the drones to release canisters of tear gas into dense crowds of protesters, who have also countered the move by placing vegetable sacks covered in water over the containers to limit the spread of the gas. 

One person has been killed during the unrest, leading to the march being halted for two days. 

The farmers still say they are open to return to the negotiating table for a new deal.
