This is the moment huge waves crashed over the Cornish coast as Storm Noa lashed Britain with 90 miles-per-hour winds and lashing rain yesterday.

The Met Office said hail and thunder is expected in northern parts of the UK today, with Sunny intervals and showers.

An Atlantic storm whipped up yesterday's ginormous waves, as well as downing trees and power lines leaving hundreds in a blackout, the BBC reported.

Daytime showers will ease and clear during the evening to reveal late spells of sunshine, according to Meteo Group UK.

Clouds will build in from the south-west overnight bringing outbreaks of rain across Wales and south-west England, with a chance of showers across Scotland.

However winds - which were predicted to reach speeds of up to 70 mph yesterday, but actually topped 90 mph, will ease and become mostly light to gentle

The Met Office predicts showers in the south for this evening, with more than  20 flood alerts across southern England, from Oxford to Maidstone and Weymouth.

However, Britain is set to be hotter than Barcelona in a matter of days after Storm Noa's chaos calms down.

Parts of the UK could reach 21 C as a high pressure system moves back, bringing warmer weather conditions - but expect a few more days of unsettled weather first.

Yesterday saw wind and rain sweeping through regions with rapid drops in temperature, - in Hertfordshire temperatures fell by four degrees in the space of an hour.

Scotland also experienced heavy showers, with western areas seeing up to 40mm of rain and other areas getting 20mm.

Temperatures in Scotland dipped to freezing level overnight, particularly in rural areas in the north of the country.
