Angela Rayner has been filmed raving in a DJ booth in Ibiza – after Sir Keir Starmer warned of “painful” times ahead for Britons.

The Deputy Prime Minister was seen dancing at Hï Ibiza club on the Spanish island in a video posted by actress Denise Van Outen on Instagram.

In the footage, Ms Rayner wears a red outfit and dances to a remix of Gotye’s hit song Somebody That I Used to Know while partiers cheer her on.

At one point, she throws a finger into the air in time with music, and performs several other dance moves on stage. She then hugs DJ FISHER, whose real name is Paul Fisher.

Ms Rayner can be seen clutching a bottle in one hand and wearing a pair of headphones around her neck as smoke cannons and techno lights blare in the background.

Ms Van Outen, a former presenter on The Big Breakfast, described the scene as “a surprise booth rave up with Angela Rayner” as she posted the video on Thursday night.

The footage emerged less than a week after the Prime Minister said in a speech on Tuesday that “things will get worse before they get better” as he claimed the last government had hidden the true state of the public finances.

He also said that October’s budget would be “painful” as he paved the way for tax rises.

Ms Rayner, who is also the Housing Secretary, arrived in Ibiza just a day after holding a meeting in the UK to discuss housing safety.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday, she said: “I met with mayors, regulators and partners today to set clear expectations about urgently making homes safe and speeding up remediation.”

Ms Rayner has hinted at her penchant for clubbing before, telling The Mirror she had danced from four in the afternoon until five in the morning while on holiday in Spain last year.

In an interview at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last August, Ms Rayner, 44, said she was “proud” of her 12-hour raves.

She said: “The girls I was raving with are half my age, and I was like ‘I’m a grandma’. I was proud of that. 4pm I started, and I got home at six o’clock in the morning when the sun was shining and I was like: ‘Yes, I can do it.’”

Her latest trip to Ibiza contrasts with Sir Keir’s holiday plans, after he cancelled a planned family break to Europe to take charge of the riots spreading across the UK.

Speaking from the garden of Downing Street, Sir Keir insisted that tax rises and public service cuts will be required in the short term because of the state in which the Conservatives left the economy.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has already announced that winter fuel allowance will be removed from all pensioners except those on pension credit.
