Volodymyr Zelensky has called on Donald Trump to disclose his plan to end the war in Ukraine and warned that any proposal must avoid violating Ukraine’s sovereignty.
“If Trump knows how to end this war he should tell us today. Because if there are risks to Ukraine’s independence, if there are risks that we lose statehood, we want to be prepared for this,” he told Bloomberg.
Trump has repeatedly boasted he could swiftly “settle” the war by his possible inauguration in January. Sources close to the former president say his plan could involve striking a bargain with Vladimir Putin to block Ukraine from joining Nato.
Mr Zelensky, who has pushed back against any peace deal that would involve giving up Ukrainian territory, said: “They can’t plan my life and life of our people and our children.
“We want to understand whether in November we will have the powerful support of the US, or will be all alone.”
