A Ukrainian drone attacked and set alight an oil depot in Russia’s Bryansk region, the local governor has said.
Alexander Bogomaz said more than a dozen fire engines had rushed to extinguish the blaze, and that early reports indicate there were no casualties.
Unverified footage posted on social media shows thick black smoke pouring into the sky as the fire rages, alongside what appear to be storage tanks.
Mr Bogomaz wrote on Telegram: “An aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicle was suppressed by electronic warfare equip[ment of the Russian Ministry of Defence.
“When the air target was destroyed, ammunition was dropped onto the territory of the Klintsy oil depot”.
It comes after a Ukrainian drone was shot down over a St Petersburg oil terminal early Thursday morning, reportedly passing over Vladimir Putin’s country retreat in the process.
Kyiv appears to be targeting enemy supply chains amid fears that the ground freezing over in the coming weeks will provide the conditions for a push by Russian armoured vehicles.
