Vladimir Putin has been accused of “playing a game” after Ukraine reported Russian strikes on civilians just hours after he agreed to a partial ceasefire.

Boris Pistorius, Germany’s defence minister, said attacks had “not eased at all in the first night after this supposedly ground-breaking, great phone call”.

The Russian president agreed on Tuesday to temporarily suspend attacks on Ukrainian energy facilities in a call with Donald Trump, but stopped short of endorsing a full 30-day truce.

Andriy Yermak, Volodymyr Zelensky’s chief of staff, wrote on Telegram overnight that Moscow was “attacking civilian infrastructure and people - right now”.

Regional authorities in Sumy in north east Ukraine said that Russia’s drone attacks damaged two hospitals there, forcing the evacuation of patients and hospital staff.

A 60-year-old man was injured and several houses damaged in a Russian drone attack on the Kyiv region that surrounds the Ukrainian capital, Mykola Kalashnyk, governor of the region, said early this morning.

Meanwhile, authorities in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar said earlier today that a Ukrainian drone attack sparked a small fire at an oil depot located near the village of Kavkazskaya.
