Donald Trump’s administration is expected to present a long-awaited plan to end the war in Ukraine at the Munich Security Conference next week.
The blueprint would reportedly be presented to allies by Keith Kellogg, the president’s special representative for Ukraine, in the first step towards ending the conflict.
The proposal, which is expected to be delivered during the conference in Germany, would come a week before the war reaches its three year mark.
It includes potentially freezing the conflict and the territory occupied by Russian forces while assuring Ukraine with security guarantees to ensure that Moscow cannot attack again, according to Bloomberg.
“I’ll meet with America’s allies who are ready to work with us,” Mr Kellogg said in a post on X, appearing to confirm plans to attend the Munich gathering.
Tariff threats
The US president has threatened Vladimir Putin with a fresh round of tariffs and sanctions unless he stops “this ridiculous war”.
Mr Trump said he was “doing a favour” for Putin by offering him the chance to negotiate over peace, but would punish Russia if it did not come to the table.
Mr Trump has repeatedly promised to bring a swift end to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
