Donald Trump’s inauguration will be moved indoors as temperatures in Washington DC are forecast to reach a decade low.
The president-elect is now expected to be sworn in inside the US Capitol Rotunda while the inaugural parade will be held in Washington’s Capital One Arena.
The US National Weather Service is predicting maximum temperatures of 21F (-6C), which would make Monday the coldest Washington day in a decade.
“There is an Arctic blast sweeping the country,” Mr Trump wrote on his app Truth Social.
“It is my obligation to protect the people of our country but, before we even begin, we have to think of the inauguration itself.
“Therefore, I have ordered the inauguration address, in addition to prayers and other speeches, to be delivered in the United States Capitol Rotunda.
“We will open Capital One Arena on Monday for live viewing of this historic event, and to host the presidential parade. I will join the crowd at Capital One, after my swearing-in.”
