Israel has agreed to the terms of a ceasefire agreement to bring about an end to the war in Gaza, Donald Trump has announced.
The US president said Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, had agreed to the conditions of a 60 day ceasefire after a long meeting with representatives on Monday.
Mr Trump encouraged Hamas to accept the deal, which is thought to also include an agreement over the release of Israeli hostages.
“My Representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza. Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the Wa,” Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal.”
“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
