Donald Trump has called for George Soros, the billionaire Democrat donor, to face racketeering and corruption charges for allegedly supporting “violent protests”.
The US president said Mr Soros, 95, long seen as a bogeyman of the Maga Republican movement, and his son, should face charges usually reserved for criminal organisations.
“George Soros, and his wonderful radical Left son, should be charged with RICO because of their support of violent protests, and much more, all throughout the United States of America,” Mr Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social, referring to the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organisations Act.
“We’re not going to allow these lunatics to rip apart America any more, never giving it so much as a chance to BREATHE and be FREE,” Mr Trump wrote, adding: “Soros, and his group of psychopaths have caused great damage to our country!”
Offering no evidence to support his allegations, Mr Trump added a threat to his other adversaries, writing: “That includes his crazy, West Coast friends. Be careful, we’re watching you!”
