Benny Johnson, a Conservative influencer, was targeted in a plot mirroring the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Pam Bondi has said.

The attorney general announced that George Isbell Jr has been arrested as part of the White House’s crackdown on Left-wing political violence.

Mr Isbell was charged with posting threatening communications to the home of Mr Johnson and his wife, Kate, which outlined plans to orphan their children and described shooting him through the neck.

On Friday, Ms Bondi said the alleged threats against the influential conservative activist were part of an Antifa plot to wreak “havoc on the streets of our cities”.

She linked them to the killing of Kirk, who was shot dead during a talk at Utah Valley University in September.

“This arrest will serve as a reminder, we will find you,” Ms Bondi said, drawing comparison to a recent attack on an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas, and an antisemitic attack against Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania’s Democrat governor, in April.

She added: “Benny is a well-known media personality carrying a message very similar to Charlie’s, grounded in faith and love of country.

“The author of this letter made it very clear that he hated Benny because of his views and he wanted Benny dead.”
