Commuters face travel chaos this summer as 20,000 rail workers walk out for three days in their prolonged pay dispute.

Train drivers have also announced a fresh overtime ban, which threatens to disrupt services at the height of the summer holidays.

RMT members will once again walk out at 14 train operators across England, after the companies failed to make revised pay offer. The latest strike action will impact fans travelling to the Ashes Test, which runs from Thursday July 27 until Monday July 31 at the Oval, London. 

London Underground workers had planned four days of walkouts in July, but this has now been cancelled.

The RMT said that 20,000 rail workers - including station staff, train managers and catering workers - across the UK are to strike on the following days:

Meanwhile, a fresh overtime ban has been announced by train drivers. Members of Aslef at 15 train operating companies will refuse to work overtime from Monday July 31 to Saturday August 5 in the long-running dispute over pay.

It will be the fourth week-long ban on overtime since May. RMT and Aslef strikes wreaked havoc for rail passengers in May, including thousands of people attending the FA Cup final at Wembley, the Epsom Derby, Beyoncé’s “Renaissance” world tour concert at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the Eurovision final in Liverpool.
