Rishi Sunak has vowed to make the “right” decisions and not the “easy” ones as he received a polling boost on the first morning of Conservative Party conference in Manchester.
The Prime Minister tweeted: “After nearly a year as Prime Minister, I’ve learnt that the political system incentivises the easy decision, not always the right one.
“At Conservative Party Conference this week, we’ll show that can change. And we’ll do it by taking long-term decisions for a brighter future.”
It came after an Opinium survey suggested the Labour lead over the Tories had shrunk to its narrowest margin since Mr Sunak entered No10 almost 12 months ago.
The poll, conducted between September 27-29, put Labour on 39 per cent and the Tories on 29 per cent, giving the former a lead of 10 points.
Labour were down by two points when compared to the previous poll conducted between September 13-15 while the Tories were up by three points.
