Good evening. A British girl who was one of four young children stabbed at a playground in France was on holiday with her family, authorities have confirmed.
The child has been taken to a hospital in Grenoble where she is in a critical condition following the attack in Annecy on Thursday morning.
A prosecutor has confirmed that a Dutch child and two children from France were also targeted by the knife-wielding suspect, who was arrested.
The children, who all suffered life-threatening injuries, are aged between 22 months and three years. Two adults were also injured.
French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne said the suspect had neither a criminal or psychiatric record and authorities say there is no evidence of a terrorist motive.
Ms Borne has confirmed the man is a Syrian national who had refugee status in Sweden.
