Several people are “dead and injured” after a terrorist attack at the headquarters of a Turkish aerospace company, the country’s interior minister has said.
Local media reported that hostages were taken in a suspected suicide bomb attack, which killed 10 people.
A huge explosion was reportedly followed by gunfire, according to reports.
Turkish authorities have not confirmed how many people were killed.
Ali Yerlikaya, the country’s interior minister, said the attack happened outside the headquarters of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAS), located in the Kahramankazan district of Ankara, Turkey’s capital.
“A terrorist attack was carried out against the Turkish Aerospace Industries... Unfortunately, we have martyrs and injured people,” Mr Yerlikaya said in a statement.
Security forces, ambulances and firefighters were dispatched to the site, NTV television reported.
Employees at the company were taken to a safe area, HaberTurk said.
TUSAS is considered to be one of Turkey’s most important defence and aviation companies.
It is known for producing KAAN, the country’s first national combat aircraft.
