Susan Hall has won the nomination to become the Conservative Party candidate in next year’s London mayoral election.

She will go on to face the incumbent Labour Mayor Sadiq Khan in May.

The former leader of the Conservatives in the Greater London Assembly beat Moz Hossain, a 48-year-old barrister, to the nomination.

In her acceptance speech, Susan Hall said that “Londoners deserve so much better” than Labour mayor Sadiq Khan.

She promised that she would serve London by “fixing the Met Police” with a £200m investment, as well as “tackling violence against women and girls and making our streets safer”, as well as building more affordable housing and improving the capital’s nightlife.

Ms Hall also said that she would stop the expansion of Sadiq Khan’s Ultra Low Emissions Zone, telling supporters in Uxbridge: “We are here in Hillingdon, an area where this really matters, and I pledge I will stop the Ulez expansion on Day One” which was met with rapturous applause.
