Around 70 firefighters are battling floodwaters in East London this morning as experts warned flooding will continue to be “significant’ across parts of England.
Photos showed streets in Hackney Wick, including Smeed Road, covered in floodwater, with safety cordons put in place as the London Fire Brigade worked to divert the floodwaters.
A yellow weather warning for rain was issued by the Met Office, covering London and the south of England, until 3am on Friday.
Showers will continue into Friday morning, according to forecasters, and are likely to affect parts of south-west and eastern England, Wales and areas in Scotland.
