Sir Keir Starmer will lavish praise on Donald Trump’s leadership on Monday at a summit to mark the US president’s Gaza peace deal.
The Prime Minister is set to fly to Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt to join other world leaders at the signing of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
He is expected to say that the pact championed by the White House marks “a historic turning point” for the Middle East.
Sir Keir will pay special tribute to Mr Trump’s leadership, as well as praising the contributions of Egypt, Qatar and Turkey towards bringing about peace.
Last week, the Prime Minister, who has been criticised for recognising Palestine before the ceasefire was announced, said peace “would not have happened” without the US president.
The summit will take place against the backdrop of the first phase of the US plan, which is expected to see the last Israeli hostages returned by Hamas.
