The three candidates to succeed Nicola Sturgeon as SNP leader and First Minister of Scotland will go head-to-head in the first TV debate of the campaign tonight.

Ash Reagan, Humza Yousaf and Kate Forbes are set to take part in a televised 70-minute hustings, taking place in Glasgow and hosted by the Scottish broadcaster STV.

Previous debates, which have only been open to party members, saw Ms Forbes attack her main rival Mr Yousaf's running of the NHS and suggest he was unwilling to take difficult decisions that would ensure the survival of the health service.

Mr Yousaf is seen as the "continuity candidate" in the leadership contest, vowing to build on and protect Ms Sturgeon's legacy, while both Ms Forbes and Ms Regan have been more critical of the SNP’s recent record in government.

The three candidates to replace Nicola Sturgeon, whose resignation sent shockwaves throughout the county last month, will be able to "cross-examine" each other courtroom-style as part of this evening's hustings, held in Glasgow and televised by STV, the Scottish broadcaster.

Ash Reagan, Humza Yousaf and Kate Forbes are all in with a chance of becoming the next First Minister of Scotland.
