Several people were being held hostage in a cafe in a Dutch town on Saturday morning, with police evacuating homes in the area, according to local officials.
“A hostage situation involving several people is underway in a building in the center. That is why several specialist services are on site,” said the local police on X, formerly Twitter.
Approximately 150 homes in Ede have been evacuated, the police said.
They advised residents to “Stay inside and don’t come and watch.”
Pictures showed a heavy armed police presence.
